Janet Jackson announces new album Black Diamond, shares tour dates

The 33-date tour will feature performances of brand new music as well as her hits.

Only a week ago we were celebrating Janet Jackson Appreciation Day a.k.a. The Super Bowl, but we won't have to live in the past for much longer to conjure up the pop legend's iconic stage presence. On Monday, Jackson announced the Black Diamond world tour. Thirty-three dates across the United States and Canada have been announced, and more across the world will be revealed soon.

The tour is titled after Jackson's upcoming new album, the follow-up to 2015's Unbreakable, which she announced with an Instagram post. New music will be performed at each of the dates, along with her hits and "a special performance" of her masterpiece, the 1989 project Rhythm Nation 1814.

"Black Diamonds are the toughest of all the diamonds, the hardest to cut," Jackson said in a statement. "I see that as the hardest to hurt or destroy. There is a lot that I have endured. I see myself as a Black Diamond in its purest form. I’m a rock, I have ruff edges but I keep moving forward. I want to show you my strength as well as give you strength."

Subscribers to Jackson's mailing list will get a presale code on February 11. General public tickets are available on February 13.
