“Lofi hip hop radio - beats to relax/study to” returns to YouTube after brief ban
YouTube said the popular channel’s removal was a mistake.
ChilledCow is the YouTube creator responsible for the incredibly popular, possibly paradigm-shifting YouTube stream "lofi hip hop radio - beats to relax/study to." Over the weekend, their entire channel was banned from YouTube without explanation to the channel's many fans or ChilledCow themselves. Not long after, however, ChilledCow's channel was restored and the chill beats returned in a brand new stream.
YouTube's official Twitter account issued an apology to ChilledCow for the ban. "Our teams confirmed that this was a mistake on our side and your channel has now been reinstated," YouTube said. "We’re sorry this happened! We've shared feedback with our review team to prevent similar errors from happening in the future."
"Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the tremendous support," ChilledCow wrote on Twitter. "I'm grateful to have such an amazing community." The original "lo fi" stream amassed over 218 million views, and according to The Verge, ran for over 13,000 hours, making it one of the longest videos in YouTube history.
