Empara Mi’s Suitcase Full Of Sins plays out like an epic, choose your own adventure film
The Guernsey-born artist splits it up into eight chapters.
Although philharmonic orchestras are currently ceasing live shows around the country, you still have the opportunity to experience a soundtrack to one of the greatest films never made. Empara Mi's new project Suitcase Full Of Sins opens with a minimal prologue ("Wanderlust") about starting a new adventure on her own. This quickly reveals itself to be a dark path ("Ditch") that continues into a chaotic spiral ("WYGD") and ends with a love story. The lush production makes full use typically found in a cinematic score with Empara Mi's dense voice neatly layered on top.
In an email, she explained the inspiration for the project: “Suitcase Full Of Sins is a compilation of all of my demons over the past five years. I wanted to pour all the fractured states of my mind into the music, hence the journey between chaos and complete solitude but always with a side of EXTRA. I was lucky enough to work with some incredible producers, Andrew Dawson (Kanye West, Childish Gambino) and Owen Cutts, to create a world around the songs with no fear of genre, which is why each song feels more like a scene from a movie as they each play their own role in the album.”
