Deadmall let their past wash over them in their “Heron” video

Composed of Gabe Gill and Honeyfitz, Deadmall know nothing but combining genres in their unique music. Their internet pop heavily uses autotune and synths that are mixed with emotions brought up from reminiscing. That formula comes through strong in their latest video "Heron." They hit Coney Island in the Noah Dirks-directed visuals, wearing wigs and drinking 40s to play off the line, "You could make a man of me yet."

In an email, Gill revealed the source of his verse: "My therapist used to say that when you have time where your life is sort of empty, ‘Things tend to come up.’ This song feels like a big catalogue of things that just kind of rose back to the surface." Honefitz also went into his inspiration: "I’m sort of talking about high school on this one. Our lives got so easy last year that I found myself really reaching back when I was writing. That’s a big part of why we had to move to New York and make everything hard again."

"Heron" comes off of their last project Zach's Mice from January 2019. Deadmall plans on staying busy by releasing Deadmall 3, Deadmall + Rothstein 2, and Songs for Andrew later this year.
