Joël continues to spiritually grow on GRUNGE GOSPEL - Side B project
The Toronto-based artist makes the case to replace a lot of the R&B on your current playlists.
After dropping GRUNGE GOSPEL - Side A last September, Joël has returned with seven more tracks for the Side B complement. The blend of R&B and 808s, which hits as gently as a light rain against the window, is a continuation of therapy through journaling for the artist.
In an email, Joël explained the process of creating his gospel mixed with grunge: "I started working on Side B of the EP last summer in L.A. with Colin Munroe who put me on a bunch of grunge music and sounds that weren’t as 'pretty' as I was used to and I dug it. The process itself was inspiring. I was listening to everybody from J Moss and Jasmine Sullivan to Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins, plus everything in between."
