In November of last year, Baltimore rapper 4kMicheal released his debut mixtape Forgive Me, I Am Alive , which ended up being one of the better projects to come out of the city's DIY scene. Between the tape's 13 tracks, 4k accomplishes what most debuts should aim for: a thorough introduction into the psyche of an artist, what makes them tick, and how they'd like to see their lives play out in the future. In his case, that spans from the type of love that he'd like to receive, how bad he wants to succeed, and living with regret.
Today, The FADER is premiering the video for one of Forgive Me's standouts with "Industry Girl." On the song, 4k talks about needing a love that goes beyond surface level bullshit. And in the Bemi-directed video, he goes through the motions of dating, seemingly searching for who'd be the best partner in his quest to take the game over. "'Industry Girl' is juts me saying, 'If you not tryna get money with me and take over the world, shorty we jus can never be,'” he said in a text convo. "All these girls are all cute but I want more than that. I want everything. So I’m saying just that. If she not everything she’s jus another industry girl." Watch the video above.
