Tory Lanez addresses Megan Thee Stallion shooting allegations on new album
Tory Lanez’ new album DAYSTAR addresses Megan Thee Stallion by name multiple times.
In recent months, Tory Lanez has been absent from social media, a decision seemingly made in light of Megan Thee Stallion’s allegation that the R&B singer shot her in the foot in Los Angeles over the past summer. Last night, Lanez broke his social media silence to say that he would have an announcement to make at 9pm PST. It turns out that Lanez’s announcement was, in fact, the release of a new album titled DAYSTAR, on which he addresses Megan’s allegations.
On album opener “Money Over Fallouts,” which opens with soundbites of newscasters and rappers discussing the incident, Lanez sings “How the fuck you get shot in your foot, don’t hit no bones or tendons.” The rest of the album is littered with references to the incident, including a handful of instances where Lanez refers to Megan by name. The record was uploaded directly to Soundcloud and is unavailable on major streaming services.
The incident between Megan and Lanez occurred on July 12 of this year. At the time, Lanez was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon, and Megan was said to have sustained a glass wound on her foot. Later, Megan clarified her statement, stating that her foot injury was a gunshot wound “as a result of a crime that was committed against [her] and done with the intention to physically harm.” On Instagram Live a month after the shooting, Megan clarified her allegation further, saying that Lanez shot her and that she lied to police initially in order to protect Lanez, fearing for his life in such an interaction. “Yes, this n***a Tory shot me,” she said on the stream. “You shot me, and you got your publicist and your people going to these blogs, lying and shit.”
