Jamie Spears suspended from Britney Spears conservatorship
Britney Spears will soon live without her father’s control for the first time in 13 years.
Judge Brenda Penny has dismissed Jamie Spears, the father of Britney Spears, from his role as conservator of her estate and person. He had held the position for over 13 years, controlling all aspects of Britney's finances, day-to-day life and expenses, work commitments and reproductive choices, which Britney says left her "traumatized" and "enslaved". Per the AP and the Sydney Morning Herald, Judge Penny agreed with Spears and her attorney Matthew Rosengart that Jamie's removal as conservator was the best first step to ending the conservatorship entirely, stating that the situation was "not tenable", according to the New York Times. This move is a significant victory for Britney's team, who have been seeking to remove Jamie from his daughter's conservatorship for some time.
