Watch Bob Saget in his final role: a chef in Desiigner’s “Bakin” video
The video co-stars adult films tar Kendra Sunderland and Snoop Dogg.
Before Bob Saget passed away on January 9 from an accidental head injury, he had achieved a rare, parallel track success. The 65-year-old was a beloved figure in broad popular culture thanks to wholesome roles on Full House and America's Funniest Home Videos, while stand-up comedians young and old revered his X-rated act. It's these two perceptions of Saget that make his appearance in Desiigner's "Bakin" video – the final role Saget shot prior to his death – less random than it seems. The video is now streaming exclusively at Rolling Stone.
Saget's appearance in the video, where he dons a chef's outfit and cooks bacon with adult film star Kendra Sunderland, was arranged by the song's producer, DJ Whoo Kid, a friend of the comedian's. “We needed a chef for the video and I remember thinking, ‘Who the fuck is gonna be the chef who can make it weird?’” Whoo Kid told Rolling Stone. “Then immediately I thought ‘Bob Saget!’ Nobody on set believed me when I said he’d come until he actually drove up and rang the bell, like this was a Full House episode."
"When you have rappers pull up for videos," Whoo Kid continued, "they bring a Maybach, or rent a Lambo, they show off. He shows up and parks his Lexus on the grass and comes in looking like a dad.”
The clip also features appearances from the song's co-writer Slushii, as well Snoop Dogg and Jay Pharaoh, a friend of Saget's. “You don’t expect him to be sitting around here with all these bad models," Pharoah said, "and booties-a-clapping and racks being thrown and Desiigner being there doing his thing. But it works because that’s what Bob’s whole spirit was. It was different. It was, ‘Put me in an odd place that you wouldn’t expect for me to be and watch me shine.’”
