Lawn dismisses the grindset on “Running My Luck”
Their new EP Bigger Sprout is out on July 15
Two albums in, New Orleans indie rock group Lawn are happy to make music on their own terms. The tradition continues on "Running My Luck," the latest song from the upcoming EP Bigger Sprout, out July 15. Its jaunty guitars and charming slacker-croon would slot the song comfortably on a contemporary C86-style collection; nostalgic as the elements may seem together, "Running My Luck" is a dopamine blast from a tried-and-true recipe.
The lyrics of the band's new single "[deal] with how you almost always have to take risks and push yourself to find satisfaction," frontman Mac Folger says. "But sometimes, the stagnant, simple life can feel like the best option. When most of our generation is rising and grinding it, it can feel freeing to say 'I have enough'. Unfortunately, American society has created this culture of 'eat of be eaten', so this sense of comfort can soon start to feel foolish."
