Kanye West has dropped out of his upcoming headline performance at this year's Rolling Loud Miami, with Kid Cudi replacing him on the festival bill. He joins fellow headliners Future and Kendrick Lamar at the three day event, which takes place July 22-24.

“We were looking forward to Ye headlining Rolling Loud Miami 2022,” Rolling Loud co-founders Tariq Cherif and Matt Zingler said in a statement shared with Pitchfork. “We spent months working with him and his team on the performance. Unfortunately, Ye has decided that he will no longer be performing. This is the first time a headliner has ever pulled off our show and though we don’t take it lightly, we wish him the best. We look forward to welcoming Kid Cudi as a headliner in Miami and we can’t wait to see what he has in store.”

Kanye pulled out of Coachella in similar fashion earlier this year. On that occasion he was replaced by The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia. Last week it was reported that he is being sued by a production firm who claim he owes them millions of dollars for their work on the ill-fated performance.

At one point in time Kanye and Kid Cudi were close friends and regular collaborators. Relations between the pair took a turn earlier this year, however, with Cudi claiming he will never work with his Kids See Ghosts partner again. Cudi is gearing up to the launch of new album and Netflix show Entergalactic in September and a world tour due to begin this summer, too.
