454 returns with new collection Fast Trax 3

One thing you should know about 454 is that he can chop the hell out of a sample. The Florida rapper/producer first caught my ear with "LATE NIGHT," his breakout, Brent Faiyaz-sampling single that reworked the original into post pluggnb bliss (he doesn't need a sample to create great songs, though – take "ANDRETTI" for example, one of our favorite songs of 2021.) The prevalence of samples on his new collection FAST TRAX 3 means that it's unlikely to find its way to platforms like Apple Music and Spotify, but for now, you can enjoy the full 41-minute playlist on SoundCloud.

The looser restrictions are a good look for a producer like 454, who thrives in the nebulous spaces between genres. He's grown in confidence since releasing his debut full-length 4 REAL in 2021, too, bringing in new sonic elements time-stretched jungle loops as well as a range of flows into the new music. Hopefully, one or more of these tracks will go super-viral on TikTok, the sample clearances happen, and we can properly support 454's exciting creative development.
