Mariah Carey ushers in the arrival of Christmas a.k.a Mariah season
The countdown begins.
No sooner had the last candle been blown out from inside the jack-o'-lantern or the horror movie credits finished rolling was Mariah Carey springing into action. Yes, November 1 officially marks the end of spooky season and the arrival of Christmas a.k.a. Mariah season.
Carey, the unofficial Queen of Christmas, shared her now annual social media post to mark the occasion. The clip, see above, opens with her in black and white, dressed as a witch and surrounded by bats and pumpkins. Those Halloween signifiers soon vanish, however, as the action switches to color and "All I Want For Christmas Is You" chimes out. “It’s time,” she says. It's then that it dawns on you; Christmas is just 54 days away.
This holiday season Carey will embark on a short "Merry Christmas To All" tour, playing four shows in New York and Toronto where she will run through her "repertoire of classic holiday songs." No presents for guessing what song comes last in the set.
Last year Carey broke records when "All I Want For Christmas Is You" hit No.1 for the third time since its release in 1994. Those hoping for a real Mariah treat this year will be writing to Santa and crossing their fingers that he delivers her lost grunge album, recorded and promptly shelved in the mid-90s.
