Shaquille O’Neal and Blackway share “King Talk”
The song was first previewed soon after LeBron James broke the NBA’s all-time scoring record.
On February 16, LeBron James became the all-time points scorer in NBA history, surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabar's previous high of 38,387 points. The feat was celebrated in the world of basketball and beyond, with superstars past and present paying respects to the Los Angeles Lakers star. One of the tributes came from Shaquille O'Neal, the basketball legend who has been known to dabble in rap every now and then (he's also a popular EDM DJ). O'Neal shared an animated clip celebrating LeBron's achievement soundtracked by a new song called "King Talk." That track, a collaboration between O'Neal, N.Y.C. rapper Blackway, and Koko, is out now.
“KoKo and I have been sending beats back and forth for a minute now and after he played me this one, I knew I had to jump on it," O'Neal said in a statement. "I’ve been waiting for the perfect moment for a collab with Blackway and this was it. This is the type of record that gets me hyped like I’m walking out for game seven of the finals. The lyrics and vibe of this track [were] so perfect for the moment when LeBron James set the NBA scoring record and I knew I had to share it with the world — a king recognizes a king. It was crazy to see so many people connect with the song when they heard the teaser, just like I did when we created it."
