Cash Cobain samples Jai Paul on “Rump”
The track, which also features Chow Lee, will appear on the upcoming Pretty Girls Love Slizzy.
Cash Cobain made his name making a form of that drill that utilised pop samples, combining the bass-heavy rap sound with something hooky, nostalgic, and fun. "Rump" doesn't go down the route of sampling the Moesha theme tune or The Plain White T’s like Cobain has done in the past, instead flexing a different kind of muscle. The intro will be instantly familiar as Jai Paul's "BTSTU" which the Bronx producer and rapper, alongside regular collaborator Chow Lee, adds to with an urgent kick drum and lines like, "Don’t fuck with me, like who wanna rump with me? / Says she heard about the slizzys, like now she wanna come and see." Check it out below.
"Rump" will feature on Pretty Girls Love Slizzy, Cobain's new album due out on September 13. The album will also feature the previously released "Slizzy Talk" and "Slizzy Gods."
Jai Paul, meanwhile, recently announced a raft of new tour dates, including shows in North America. Maybe he and Cobain can bring "Rump" to the stage later this year.
