Usher shares new album ahead of Super Bowl Half-Time show
Coming Home is streaming now.
This Sunday Usher will be the headline performer at the Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show in Vegas. To take advantage of his moment in the spotlight the R&B superstar has released his latest albu, Coming Home.
Coming Home is Usher's ninth studio album and his first since 2016's Hard II Love. It features the single "Good Good," plus appearances from Burna Boy, Pheelz, and H.E.R.. "A-Town Girl," which features Latto, is a take on Billy Joel's "Uptown Girl" altered to namecheck Atlanta staples Magic City and lemon pepper wings. Check out the album in full below.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music last year, Usher said the Super Bowl had been on his bucket list for a long time. "I’ve been asked many a times, ‘What are the benchmarks or what are the things that matter most to you?’ Obviously performing, but being able to perform on that stage because so many amazing performers have graced it and did an amazing job," he said. "Of course the obsession of that starts, but man, the excitement of this moment and being able to savor this moment. You remember the first time you heard your record on the radio. This is like that for me."
At the time of writing guest stars for the Super Bowl half-time show remain a surprise. Usher has hinted that he will bring Ludacris and Lil Jon out for his 2004 hit, "Yeah," however. “I would be a fool to not play 'Yeah!' let's just start there,” Usher told Entertainment Tonight this week. “It would be foolish to make it all the way to Las Vegas, Jon is here, Luda's here and not play ‘Yeah!’”
Usher will follow his Super Bowl appearance with a North American tour. The 24-date Past Present Future tour will kick off in late August and run through the fall. Tickets for all shows will go on sale Feb. 12 at 10 a.m. local time.
