Long overdue post alert! Other than that time he accidentally apppeared in our Georgia Girls feature (dude was shopping at Greenbriar Mall at the time), and our occasional Vannessa Carlton punditry and shout-outs to the cameo genius of Dre 3K, there's been precious little talk about Lloyd over at Casa FADER. Kinna wrote off his first album cause he looked like a Street Fighter 2 villain on the cover, but this new LP has some cuts on it, namely the current single, "Get It Shawty," a floating, uptempo number produced by Usher's little brother. This past weekend, NYC radio DJs were going in Aquaman style with it (mixing into Diddy and Keyshia Cole's almost-sick-of-this-but-still-pretty-great "Last Night" for good measure), and we were reminded not only of how good "Get It Shawty" is, but realized the uncanny vocal similarites between Lloyd and Felly from Technotronic. Admit it, when he goes "I WAAANT..." on the chorus, you instinctvely go "A PLAAACE, TO STAAAY..." The point of all this blabbering? It's spring time, and we won't be mad if this song ends up soundtracking it.
