We get music in some of the darndest ways here at The FADER. Of course people email, and sometimes they send bulky FedEx packages with these shiny little discs enclosed. One time there was even this kid who got The FADER office address and waited patiently in the lobby for a certain editor to return from lunch so he could hand deliver a mixtape. Then there are cases like that of "Uptown," which we heard on the radio last night during a DJ Camilo
mix set, and after some cursory internet research found out we're like a month late on. For the best ode to upper Manhattan since our FADER #59 Harlem story, DJ Webstar collected some of Harlem's finest including Jimmy Jones and Young Wonder, who may or may not be a Smack DVD battle legend named T-Rex. We're not sure how Yonkers became Uptown, but Styles P also joins the gang to expound on some of the more hood fab experiences and cultural signifiers we touched on in our Harlem story.
