With a heavily vaporous goth set, Light Asylum is turning grown men into choked up moms unable to articulate their feelings. The new-ish duo has been routinely playing New York City nooks, slow keyboard washes the foundation for lady opera vocal swelling, like a white noise machine gone dark. It's like a mnemonic device for deep emotions. "Knights and Week-ends," though, accelerates the BPMs and smacks the drum (machine). Singer Shannon Funchess, never one to have a particular dainty voice, here just straight up sounds like a dude. We could be friends over and over, and then laying hands on you over and over. Not really in a happy way.
