Andrew WK's definitely looking a little Ras Trent in his Daytrotter drawing. But the feeling of these sessions—featuring Andy on piano and Matt Sweeney on guitar—is more free jazz than white dread. "Untitled Jam #2" is the best, well, jam, because halfway through it features Andrew knocking on wood, like he's at the door. It meanders out of skronk wonk and into electric country blues territory. And it's not good. But it's not bad. Andrew WK lives in a different world than good or bad. He's not an a musician, but he's not an artist. He's not really a performer, either. He's clearly not the rocker he once was. We're going to paraphrase from an WK poster we once saw in a friend's bathroom or something and this pretty much gets it: "We may have our differences, but at the end of the day, we're all just dudes." He's a dude. To call him anything but a dude, his output anything over than dudely, would be uncivilized. Long live one powerful dude.
