It is impossible to imagine the state of British music in 2010 without Bloc Party and Burial. Things could sound like circus music and ragtime if those two very important musical acts never existed. Delphic, held out like a carrot as the UK's next big thing in rock have yet to really be the next big thing in rock, though Bloc Party in their current form aren't doing much to claim the throne that they themselves built. Deadboy, a second wave homestep (we made that up, feel free to use it) artist, is good with a pallet of vocals and not much of an ultimatum to stay true to the original. His remix of "Halcyon" is really nice, stutter steps, calm winds, closing credits style. Best part is the end keyboard doodle, so chill. He's more more agitated than Burial and, you know, good for him. Not everything needs to soundtrack the after party McDonald's fries and video games. Well, okay maybe it does that is kind of the best music ever.
