Bronx resident and photographer Kevin Amato usually plucks his subjects straight off the sidewalk, and his portraits of hard-knock kids reveal a softer, sweeter side to rite of passage rituals. Carefully treading the line between reportage and fashion photography, and it's not unusual for the boys and girls he discovers on the street to find themselves on a runway come Fashion Week. His first solo exhibit opens in New York today, April 20th, for one night only, and all the proceeds raised will go to the Melanoma Research Fund.
