Baltimore club's propensity for sampling classic tracks (Motown, "Mr. Postman" et al) translates really well to the Gorillaz lullaby melody of "Melancholy Hill," LaCrate keeping the beat shimmy subtle (if that is possible) and letting its calliope keyboards imbue it with oomph. It's unexpectedly sweet, a dance remix that focuses less on the propulsion of the club boom and more on preserving the prettiness of the harmonies, and the rare Bmore track you could, say, play for your 8-year-old cousin without worrying she will develop an early preoccupation with boning. Good times!
