So imagine you're hanging in the middle of Fargo and you're like, What do I do with my time? Because all that is really around is like a giant field of snow and the snow kind of just bleeds into the sky, which somehow is more or less the same color as the snow. It's a generalization but a) we haven't been to Fargo before and b) we're actually going somewhere with this. Secret Cities made an album that likes to do what Brian Wilson does, which is basically just a lot. A lot of sounds, a lot of layers, a lot of whirring and clicking. Music and machinery all one thing in the service of propelling the jam forward. You get the idea that these guys had a lot of time to think about this stuff, and also a lot of time to spend inside making it. It's not especially sunny music, because, well—Fargo. But it's also not sad and depressing. No downer moments here, just an attempt to harness a whole lot of shit at once and blow it wide open into the world.
