We bought some sick summer t-shirts at Neal Mello this year, a recently-opened thrift store in Williamsburg (552 Grand St, to be exact). But we've really been waiting for colder weather to swoop in, because Mello truly shines in the winter wares department, doing Americana better than almost any store we've seen. They've mostly narrowed in on the rich history of 1970s California style, stocking warm, earthy clothes and fabrics that seem straight out of Topanga Canyon. Their racks are filled with ikat print long sleeves, worn leather boots, and soft, aged sweaters. We stock up on this kind of nostalgia for the cold doldrums of winter, and now we've happily got a one-stop shop.
