UK producer Geiom is best known for his ping-pongy garage and funky tracks, DJing on Rinse FM and heading up the label Burkane Sol. But for his mixtape for Brit streetwear site the Daily Street, he assumed the role of preservationist (or dedicated crate digger at the very least), finding his favorite tracks from the Middle East on records, cassette and CD—not an easy task, since the oldest track on here is from the '20s. Called the Nazar mix after the Turkish lucky amulet, he included music from Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan and Egypt, not omitting some of those countries' favorite old pop stars (i.e. Om Kalthoum, our beloved Googoosh). Tracklist after the jump, and be sure to head over to Daily Street to read a short interview with Geiom.
