Despite eventually hooking up with the fine-jacketed, kingly-looking guy she was chasing, Lykke Li comes off as a bit a specter of death here. Barefoot, black-veiled snow-stalking: it's a little sinister. This is her second video for “I Follow Rivers” in two weeks, if you count the illuminati animated lyrics version, and it’s similarly literal. Away she goes, “following” dude by “a river.” But her closing camera glare—mid-makeout with bloodshot eyes—is beyond words. Even if blackout Lykke does represent the inevitability of our demise, that stare is something sadder.
