Targeting demographics is nothing new for beverage purveyors. Dudes who love twins, football, and bromance being the obvious heavy hitters. But there are some companies that are interested in marketing to the fierce but fringe markets. And now, a small Mexican brewery is honing in on what marketers hope will be the loudest and proudest demographic, which has largely been snubbed by the larger breweries (unless, of course, you want to read some subtext into aforementioned Apatowian bromance). The Daily Telegraph reports that Minerva, a small Mexican brewery, is producing the world's first-ever gay beer, which will be sold primarily in Mexico, Colombia, and Japan. What's even better, The Purple Hand Beer and Salamandra beer labels will peel off to become Pride stickers. All well and good, says FADER style editor Alex Frank, "but is it low cal?"
