This past January, the LAPD "reinvigorated" their investigation of rapper Christopher Wallace's (Notorious B.I.G.) 1997 murder, due to new, previously unreleased information. Though the FBI officially closed their case in 2005, they've just released some of their documents, prefaced by a disclaimer stating that "the information found in these files may no longer reflect the current beliefs, positions, opinions, or policies currently held by the FBI." It's now clear that Big fell with a bag of weed in his pocket, pants size 48, but the occasion of his death, at just age 24, remains as baffling as ever. The release of these files doesn't make it feel like the FBI or LAPD are near a public resolution of the crime, and the suggestion that these papers might now help civilians easily solve it's complexity is equally demoralizing.
