James Blake’s new video for "Lindisfarne" recalls the peculiar bonds forged over a seemingly interminable high school sleepover. Granted, Blake's version seems to combine the experiences of elementary and high school all-nighters—where kids tend to err towards benign occultish practices like "light as a feather, stiff as a board" and "bloody mary" in the bathroom mirror, and high schoolers seem to be most interested in heavy petting. But the combination in "Lindisfarne" seems to suggest being on the brink—like the last rite of brotherly bonding before the hormones kick in and everything goes to pot (both figuratively and literally).
