There's generally a short lifespan for artists who make high energy their calling card. They either burn out quickly and completely, mature (ugh) into a calmer (ugh!) formula, or ease into comfortable ruts, holding that single note intensity that first defined them for the remainder of their career. It's now been two years since Waka Flocka first dropped "O Let's Do It," which equates to like sixty years in internet-era rap time, and yet each and every release since has been progressively tighter and more combustible. The phrase all the way ternt up would be appropriate, if it wasn't inevitable that he was just going to tern it up even further on his next record. As if DuFlocka Rant wasn't enough, the Twitter loosie "Hijackin' Planes" represents another new and paranoid high for rap's most hated dread head, with his aggressive chants evolving into full-on M.O.P. scream rap by the last verse.
