A prediction: Twenty or thirty years from now collectors, compilers and hoarders of obscure music will find a renewed interest in not just Lex Luger productions, but the productions of lesser Lex soundalikes. They will organize DJ nights and blogs and mixtapes around the throwback sounds of apocalypse 808s and young upstarts will churn out their own, inferior rehashes (think of a Sharon Jonesish take on Waka Flocka, then suppress the urge to murder). Pundits and tastemakers will give it a new name, as if we didn't all just call it "some rap shit" in its day. Perhaps they will chose "Luger Rap" or, more to the point, just "BMF." Yeah, "BMF" would be the practical choice as it'd leave more room in auction headings on eBay, where rare untagged, CDQ MP3 versions of tracks like the Lil Lody-produced "Mask Off" will exchange hands for big money.
So bang this and grab Gunplay's recent Off Safety mixtape so you can one day tell your kids about how you were there, in that fateful Datpiff window, when it all went down.
