For those of you who saw Grimes lording over her Roland at the Bowery Ballroom last night like an elfin witch over a caldron—a pinch of bass, looping vocals, and puppy dog tails—you'll probably be unsurprised by this incantation, "Beast Infection." On this track, unlike many on Geidi Primes (originally released on Arbutus and soon to be re-released on vinyl by No Pain in Pop), Grimes' voice isn't overshadowed by heavy distortion and effect, and you get a sense of how trained and pretty it actually is. She still favors her usual ethereal, almost ear-splitting soprano, but in real life she can actually get quite low and soulful.
