Last night, Beyonce arrived at the VMAs in a draped red gown, grabbing a bump in her belly. MTV tweeted a "formal" announcement on her behalf. In place of a cigar, they gifted her hubbie Jay-Z with a surprise performance. Later, Beyonce performed family-friendly album cut "Love on Top," telling the audience, "I want you to feel the love that's growing inside of me." Afterward, she was joined backstage by her former Destiny’s Child cohort, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. Two years ago, Kanye West famously interrupted Taylor Swift onstage in Bey's defense, telling the VMA audience that with "Single Ladies" she, "had one of the best videos of all time." Two years later, that storyline felt neatly ribbon-tied. Last night, Kanye played the part of happy all-denim everything uncle, finally a part of a growing, extended family.
