Nozinja and Nurse Matlala of South Africa's Shangann Electro scene took Pollyn's catchy, all-about-the-bassline track "How Small We Are" and made it even more thrilling by adding new vocals and doubling its length. Pollyn's Adam Jay Weissman explains, "The idea was to give [Nozinja and Nurse Matlala] the lyrics and have them translate them to create their own version of the song. They had free reign to do their thing. The track has a new brevity to it, several beats teetering insistently on as Nurse pontificates sagely over it all. In this video, filmed in Soweto, South Africa, Nurse Matlala presides with glory, rocking CD earrings and a pink top. The "How Small We Are" EP is available for free on Pollyn's Bandcamp. You can pre-order Pollyn's album, Living Patterns, from Rough Trade here. The band is also touring this December. Dates below.
