Kanye West Announces Chief Keef Remix

April 22, 2012

On Saturday, Kanye West unveiled the cover art of his G.O.O.D Music camp's next release, a remix of Chicago rapper Chief Keef’s "I Don't Like" to feature verses from Kanye, Keef, Pusha T, Jadakiss and Big Sean. Lil Reese, who was featured on the original version of the track, is not listed as a guest on the remix.

Chicago's DJ Pharris, who appears on the outro of "Way Too Cold," told Fake Shore Drive that Kanye's spent a lot of time listening to "I Don't Like" recently. "One of the records Ye kept playing over and over again was Keef's "I Don't Like," Pharris said. "We played it on repeat in the studio. Ye kept just blurting out 'I Don't Like'…Kanye told me "I Don't Like" was his second favorite record only to "Niggas in Paris"—I couldn't believe it. I told him, 'You've gotta be kidding me', but he was dead serious." Young Chop, the 18-year old producer who made the "I Don't Like" beat, signed a production deal with Warner Chappell earlier this month.

Kanye's not the only heavy-hitter interested in Keef, who is still on house arrest after being charged with unlawful use of a weapon in Chicago last year. According to Keef, Birdman, the fourth-richest dude in rap, wants to sign the 16-year-old to Cash Money Records.

Keef released a collaboration with fellow prolific YouTube-r, Riff Raff, today. A video for the track, which you can stream and download below, is expected this week.

Update 4/24/2012: Unnamed sources tell Fake Shore Drive that G.O.O.D. Music's "I Don't Like" remix will be released this Friday, 4/27. Like "Way Too Cold," the track is expected to debut on the radio before being released on the internet.
