Trinidad's Machel Montano, International Soca Monarch winner for the past two years, and a national pop star for the last 30, takes a break from extreme BPMs and flag pumping on "Go Down," his track on Dre Skull's Loudspeaker riddim, an instrumental built from flashes of synth glimmer and wide-open space. Dancehall queen/sex columnist Natalie Storm says Loudspeaker has been kicking around in secret for two years, which is apparently how long it takes to score appearances from four of Caribbean music's biggest characters. Stream "Go Down" and preview the other three versions of the riddim, voiced by Popcaan, Beenie Man and Storm, below. Read Nick Barat's Machel Montano FADER cover story, from 2007, here.
