According to New Jersey authorities, rapper/singer Lauryn Hill has been charged for failing to file her taxes for 2005, 2006 and 2007. If found guilty, the South Orange resident could face a fine of $100,000 and a maximum sentencing of a year in prison. Hill's tumultuous past seemed to have reached a beacon of new light after her appearance this past weekend at Hot 97's Summer Jam, but it looks as if she is still facing struggles. She is to appear in court on June 29th.
UPDATE 6/12/12: Hill has responded to the charges in a statement on Tumblr, claiming to have gone off the grid or "underground" to avoid the temptations of "the machine" (fame) and to protect her family "from a lifestyle that required distortion and compromise as a means for maintaining it."
