The Portland duo Pure Bathing Culture's great self-titled EP somehow evaded these pages when it was released this spring, but I've been playing and rewinding its temperate swoon a ton lately. Like some of my favorite producers—Air France, Southern Shores, Sun Glitters—the name Pure Bathing Culture also provides a nice image of their sound, and here I've tried to flesh out the microgenre it could inspire. Bouncy, ’80s-inspired songs for hot springs, plus a few mellower songs for when you need to dunk your head and shut everybody up.
