Chicago's Katie Got Bandz employs a world of not-even-on-Urban Dictionary-yet slang on "Check a Bag," the looping, get-money anthem (the bag is full of banded money stacks) that opens her new tape, Bandz & Hittaz. The project, quietly released last week, includes a track that precisely mimics King L's flow ("Lady M.U.B.U."), plus endearing adlibs like Wait man, I got gum in my mouth and an interlude called "British Interview" that's not an interview but a recorded voicemail, documenting the seemingly unsuccessful efforts of Dazed & Confused, the esteemed London culture magazine, to set up a photo shoot with Katie. There's also a new version of her breakout, "I Need a Hitta," with more intonation. For someone whose delivery has been consistently desribed as brutal, Katie sounds cute on boy-girl ballad "Lady Hitta," which already appeared on Fatzmack's Definition of Drill tape.
