The progression of Crystal Castles from two person band that made all their music on a tiny keyboard to a project that could not only handle Robert Smith's melancholy, but actively turn it into one of the more morosely entertaining pop songs of the last couple years has been really interesting. To be real, they've yet to top that track, but what's come in the wake of it has gotten pretty close. Here they take that same big room trance sound, distort it and, weirdly, make it perfect for laptop speakers. Seriously! Try listening to this on headphones and then play it through just your speakers. It's blown out and jagged, but it fits their sound. Tiny moments for your next personal rave. "Wrath of God" comes from III, which is out on Casablanca/Universal Republic/Fiction (what a mouthful) digitally November 5th and physically November 6th.
