Looks like our beloved R&B songstress Sade is having a moment on the spring runways. Gaultier’s show (pictured above) was a tribute to pop stars of the eighties, and he sent not one, but seven Sade lookalikes down the runway in variations of tuxedo looks, complete with the red lips, slicked hair and signature hoops. At Balmain (pictured below), the collection was a study in the pop culture of the same decade, with the kind of sexy menswear that Sade rocked best: power suits with ultra-wide shoulders, high-waisted men's trousers and minimal crop tops. Balmain designer Olivier Rousteing specifically cited Sade and her penchant for wearing men's blazers over bra tops as inspiration.
