"Jewel," the new single by Vancouver-based Gold & Youth, is a dramatic track that showcases Louise Burns' pretty vocals and some theatrical, goth-tinged electronics. It's slick and moody, the kind of song you'd want playing from the car stereo if you were taking a middle-of-the-night joyride through a major metropolis. When the depressive, resonant male vocals come in around the halfway mark, the track opens up into something even gloomier, a sound reminiscent of their Arts & Crafts labelmates Trust. "Jewel" will appear on Beyond Wilderness, Gold & Youth's debut full-length, out May 14th.
