Pan American’s "Project For An Apartment Building" isn't really much more than a soft melody, a submarine pulse, an occasional distant avalanche and what sounds like the world's tiniest train skittering across the tracks. That's it. Just a hypnotic loop of these sounds gradually shifting and repeating. Part of its appeal is how calming it is. Listening to music like this feels like noise therapy, both an exercise in noticing the tiny details and learning to ignore them in favor of relaxation. Cloud Room, Glass Room, which seems like a pretty apt title, is out April 29th on Kranky.
