"All I Want To Do Is Live," the first single from Flaamingos, took a very modest wish—that of simply enduring—and wrapped it in the kind of big, buoyant chorus that made it feel more like an assertion of life. This second cut from the Los Angeles duo works a subtler brand of '80s-throwback magic, forgoing the plaintive cries for a worldweary, Wedding Present growl. With its motorik drum machine pulse and repetitive guitar washes, "Walk A Wire" feels more like it's chugging patiently along a horizontal track, building in momentum while never really climaxing, which can be a form of musical excitement in itself. Flaamingos is out August 27th via Felte.
