FADER PREMIERE
D33J's gruffly titled Gravel EP, out October 15th via Anticon, was supposedly recorded in an also kinda gruff-sounding 30-person "art-frat" in San Francisco called The Matrix 1061. These conditions surely affected the music—he says he recorded vocals with a laptop mic because it was less conspicuous—but definitely didn't impose much on its tone, songs like "Empty Sunset" grounded in bass but somehow hovering weightlessly like a single ply of tissue on a windy day. Stream the first two tracks below and see him on tour with Mount Kimbie.
