FADER PREMIERE
New HTRK tracks don't seem to come along very often, but when they do, they tend to haunt me for months. The Aussie duo (pronounced and formerly known as "Hate Rock") are masters of the slow, sexy, psychically dessicated dirge, merging chunky bass hooks and downtempo 808 beats with the curling smoke vocals of singer Jonnine Standish. On November 4th, Ghostly International is releasing this Mika Vainio remix of "Poison," a standout from their 2011 album, Work (Work, Work). The Finnish producer and former Pan Sonic member nixes the song's structure and frankensteins the drums, leaving behind a few diaphanous traces of the original (Standish's vocals, a violin-like drone) in a manner that actually just feels very HTRK. Pre-order the 10-inch single from the Ghostly store, and look out for a new full-length from the group next year.
