Yesterday, we premiered a micro-documentary about Tarryn Alberts, a lauded 23-year-old street dancer from Eldorado Park, Johannesburg. Today's video features an original dance that she choreographed especially for Obey You Collective: South Africa, our incisive look at present-day youth culture in Alberts' home country. Her moves, at once graceful and combative, pair perfectly with "Midnite Bheng" — a gorgeous, choppy track by Cape Town beatsmith Jumping Back Slash. "The piece comes from a sad place, actually," Alberts said in an interview with The FADER. "When I heard this song, it was like I put all of my fear into the dance and just let it go." The finished product is a pretty jaw-dropping display of self-expression.
