This morning, Nowness debuted the video for Jamie xx's newest song, "Sleep Sound." Just like the heart-tugging visuals for "Turn Your Love Around" by Montreal's TOPS, which I still watch from time to time, this clip explores the relationship between music and the deaf, and how sometimes meticulous production and complex rhythms can transcend those limitations. The video was filmed at the Manchester Deaf Centre, and the idea came to the clip's director, London artist Sofia Mattioli, after an affecting encounter with a hearing-impaired girl on a train.
