In theory, Atlanta rappers hitching a ride on DJ Mustard's bandwagon would seem ill-advised, but it keeps resulting in magic (see Jeezy's 2013 dabblings and Migos' "Fight Night," the easy highlight of their No Label 2 mixtape). Rocko's the latest to take it to the West coast, and he's done it right: on "Sucka," he recruits Bay area legend Too $hort, resulting in a leisurely slap that sounds like a tribute to hyphy whittled down to its skeleton. It's a perfect match for Rocko's deadpan delivery; the casualness of the whole thing makes its scathing hook—You a sucka! You a lame!—feel even more slanderous. Rocko's Real Spill mixtape is due out next Monday.
